Girl (14) critical after ‘hit and run’ accident
A 14-year-old school girl was critically injured when a motorcycle hit her at an intersection in Lyttelton Manor on Monday.
A 14-year-old school girl was seriously injured in Lyttelton Manor on Monday afternoon when she was struck by a motorcyclist who fled the scene, paramedics said.
Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann said reports from the scene indicated that the young girl was trying to cross the road at the intersection of Cradock Avenue and Potgieter Road when she was knocked over by a motorcycle. Eyewitnesses said the motorcyclist sped away afterwards.
“Paramedics arrived at the scene and found the young girl lying on the roadway,” Steinmann said. “Upon assessment it was found that the young girl had sustained critical injuries.”
Steinmann said she was treated at the scene and rushed to hospital for urgent medical care.
Traffic was not affected.
