A string of arrests related to drugs were made in Hercules the past weekend.
Community policing forum (CPF) chairperson Conrad Naudé said the first one was on Saturday in Claremont in connection with the possession of dagga.
“We later received information of two people in possession of heroin and they were taken into custody.”
Sunday turned out to be a much busier day, Naude said.
“At the bridge in Hendrik Street in Hercules we found crystal meth, CAT, nyaope and dagga. A man was arrested. We then received information that led to the arrest of a man captured not so long ago for the same drug-related crime. He was arrested for dealing in drugs at the Bremer squatter camp.”
Heroin and crystal meth with the street value of about R5 000 were seized.
“We want to thank all the law enforcement departments who were part of the operations that took place to clean up Hercules. It was a great success, without your involvement this would not have been this successful,” Naude said.
“We also want to thank all the CPF members and the public who helped us with patrols and crime prevention, accidents and information.”
Police were not immediately available for comment.
