A grade 11 pupil at Phelindaba Secondary School in Atteridgeville was allegedly stabbed following an argument with a fellow classmate on Wednesday, police said.
Police spokesperson, Captain Thomas Mufamadi said the police were called to Phelindaba Secondary School on Wednesday after one pupil stabbed another with a knife.
“One boy was taken to the police station after stabbing the other with a knife at school,” he explained.
“A case of assault has been opened against the former.”
The Gauteng department of basic education dismissed this claim of an Atteridgeville grade 11 pupil being stabbed by his classmate after police opened an assault case this week, spokesperson Nanagolo Leopeng said.
Leopeng said there was no stabbing incident, but said that a pupil threatened to stab another and police were called to the school.
“The knife was confiscated and both pupils were taken to the police station.”
Leopeng said both pupils’ parents were informed about the incident and the school would take disciplinary actions against them.
