Business manager shot dead
The manager of Pretoria Chicken and Meat was shot dead on Monday morning during a robbery in Pretoria West.
A young business manager was shot dead in a robbery outside Pretoria Chicken and Meat Wholesale in Pretoria West on Monday morning.
Louis Du Toit (29) was declared dead by Tshwane emergency services on the scene on the corner of Eskia Mphahlele Drive and Vom Hagen Street.
Police spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango said Du Toit walked out of the store with a security guard, carrying cash.
“He was heading to the bank to deposit an undisclosed amount of money. When he reached his car, he was attacked by three armed men. Du Toit was shot and died at the scene,” he said.
Msimango said the men fled in a red Toyota Corolla which was later found abandoned on Bremer Street.
Pieter Swanepoel, director of the meat outlet, said Du Toit did not try to fight with the man and was shot without a struggle.
“This is very sad as Louis was a nice guy. His parents are driving up from George right now. He leaves behind a two-year-old daughter, his wife and sister,” Swanepoel said.
Msimango said a case of murder and armed robbery is being investigated.
