Two men pretending to be collecting for the blind have robbed a house in Rooihuiskraal, police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto said on Wednesday.
Moloto said this happened in Theuns Van Niekerk Street.
He said the men knocked at the gate of the house, saying they were collecting clothes for blind people in the area.
“When the home owner declined to open the gate, they asked for water.”
Moloto said the home owner then opened the gate for them.
One of the men pulled a gun, and the home owner and his wife were locked in a bedroom.
“Car keys were taken from the victim and the suspects drove off in his white Toyota Corolla,” said Moloto.
“We appeal to anyone with information on the crime to call the nearest police station or the Crime Stop line on 08600-10111.”
