Eight illegal immigrants arrested after tip-off
Joint cooperation between police and CPF sectors lead to the arrest of eight illegal immigrants.
Pretoria North police arrested eight illegal Zimbabwean immigrants on Friday, following a tip-off.
According to police spokesperson Captain Rheineth Motlana, police and members of community policing sectors 3 and 4 reacted to the tip-off and arrested the men aged between 19 and 54 on two smallholdings close to the Bon Accord area.
She said the department of home affairs will investigate the matter further and arrange for deportation to Zimbabwe. “None of the arrested men have been connected with any other illegal activities in South Africa.”
Cobie Jansen van Rensburg, spokesperson for the community policing forum sector 3, said the various authorities came together just after 09:00 at the Onderstepoort supermarket on Friday. “We moved out in groups and made the arrests. It was an awesome display of cooperation between the sectors and police.” She added that operations of this nature would hopefully reduced crime in the area.
