Pretoria West becoming a dump
Pretoria west slowly becoming a dumpsite according to residents of the area.
Residents of Pretoria West feel the area is slowly becoming a huge dump site with people dumping on any open spaces.
Residents say it is an eyesore for them to see how dirty the area has become and how the Tshwane metro is not even bothered with cleaning up the area.
“Dumping has been becoming worse in Christoffel Street and the area looks very bad. The metro has been informed about the matter but is doing nothing,” Johan Fritz, a resident said.
He said it does not help that Skinner Street has been beautified but the west area looks bad.
A business owner in Carl Street complained that the dumping there is getting out of hand and people and businesses dump all their rubble there.
“This is a health risk, we cannot work like this. Every time we catch someone dumping here we threaten them and tell them not to dump but they could not be bothered and keep dumping,” the business owner said.
He said the open space where dumping takes place was cleaned before, but people come back to dump there.
“This is ridiculous. The metro should be able to do something about this problem. We cannot handle it.”
The metro failed to respond to numerous emails sent to them about the dumping in some areas in the west of Pretoria.
