Three men are set to reappear in the Ga-Rankuwa magistrate’s court after stealing cooking ingredients. They tied up a man and his 20-year-old son in Winterveldt North, police spokesperson Constable Herman Moremi said.
Moremi said the men, aged 22, 25 and 30, allegedly broke into the house at around 03:00 on Thursday morning and held the man and his son at gunpoint before tying them up. The robbers assaulted the two men and took R510 cash, as well as 10kg of sugar, 10kg of baking flour and 5 litres of cooking oil.
“They also stole a cellphone before fleeing the scene,” Moremi said.
The three robbers were arrested later that day after police received a tip-off. “Police went to a house in Winterveldt where the suspects were hiding. They recovered a toy gun, which was used during the robbery, the sugar, flower, cooking oil and cellphone,” he said. The cash was not found.
A case of house robbery is being investigated. Moremi said the men were being held at the Kgosi Mampuru II prison and would reappear in court on 9 March.
