Sosh fedup with potholes

Potholes on Buitekant Road in Soshanguve Block BB pose a hazard to the community.

Soshanguve residents are still complaining about the service they get from their municipality.

Problems with poor road quality had been raised in several protests the past few years, but residents of Block BB said the Soshanguve municipality had done nothing to fix potholes on Buitekant Road close to Clinic 3.

Local shop owner Sam Ndhlovu said community meetings did not result in solutions. “Before the 2014 national elections, municipal workers dug an enormous hole not far from Padisago Primary School, and left it unattended. I am worried that the big hole is hazardous to children of Block BB.”

A motorist, Eric Makola, said: “This road should be fixed as soon as possible. Problems like these lead to violent protests by community members and our cars are damaged.”

Makola said it was unfair that places like Block BB did not have proper infrastructure although residents paid high rates and taxes.

John Thompson, deputy director of infrastructure and asset management at the Thusong service centre, said the centre had not received any formal complaints, but would look into the matter and send workers to repair the potholes within two weeks.
