Soshanguve police are hot on the heels of a syndicate believed to be behind a spate of house breakings and robberies in the community.
Police spokesperson, Lolo Mangena said the police started suspecting the possibility of a syndicate after discovering the modus operandi in most of the cases they were investigating was the same.
Mangena warned, those caught for house robbery or house breaking might have a lot to answer to.
“We cannot rule out that the cases are not linked,” said Mangena.
Cases of house robberies and house breakings are reported to the police in Soshanguve daily.
On Thursday, a 55-year-old Block HH woman was busy in her house when three unknown armed men stormed into her lounge, pointing a firearm at her, demanding money and stealing valuables worth over R24 000 from the house and left.
Several other cases of house robberies were reported at various sections such as Block W, GG and KK were the suspects fitting a similar description allegedly robbed the homeowners.
In another case reported from the same section, a Block PP woman said she locked up the house and left for the shops.
“When I came back I found the door was damaged and open. Clothes were thrown around, and valuables stolen. Even groceries were taken,” the complainant said.
The robbers stole Nike tekkies as well as a Sony plasma TV.
“We want to warn residents to stop buying stolen goods. By doing this you can be arrested and charged with the house robbery you know nothing about, because of buying a stolen item,” said Mangena.
