Seven men rob bottle store
A bottle store was robbed on Sunday when seven men broke into Mayville Mall on Sunday morning.
A bottle store at Mayville Mall was robbed on Sunday morning when seven men broke into the mall, police spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango said.
He said around 06:00, three security guards on patrol were attacked by an armed man.
“The armed man forced the guards into a Mazda sedan with unknown registration number. There was also a silver Opel Corsa bakkie involved, with registration numbers DD 67 TB GP,” said Msimango.
According to Msimango approximately seven men were involved, who broke open Entrance Two of the mall.
“The men broke into the Checkers liquor store. Large quantities of liquor was stolen and loaded into the bakkie.”
He said the robbers took the three security guards to the back of the mall before fleeing the scene.
Msimango urged businesses to be extra secure during the Easter season.
“We appeal to the business sectors to be more security conscious as the Easter seasons are approaching.”
