After three years of on-going court appearances, justice has finally been served.
The 48-year-old Clyde Ponsomby from Eersterust was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for the murder of Errol Keet in November 2012.
Keet was stabbed several times in the upper body on 18 November while visiting his girlfriend at the Soutrivier flats in Eersterust.
Constable Sam Shibambo, spokesperson for the Eersterust police, said on Thursday the outstanding detective work by the diligent sergeant Thomas Rasivetshele led to the arrest of Ponsomby.
Shibambo said the police found Keet in a pool of his own blood when they arrived at the scene.
Rasivetshele initiated the investigation and managed to trace all the witnesses, which made a strong case against Ponsomby.
“The Eersterust police management would like to express their gratitude towards sergeant Rasivetshele for work well done on securing this impressive conviction,” he said.
