Watch out for biker thieves in Centurion
Centurion residents have been warned of two robbers on a white motorbike.
Two robbers on a motorcycle are active in the Centurion area, Centurion Concerned Citizens (CCC) spokesperson Hannes Du Buisson said on Thursday.
On Wednesday, the white motorbike stopped at a house on Geelvink Road in Wierda Park when the two men saw a woman driving into her yard, he said.
“They asked the woman for directions to the Mall@Reds. As she approached them, one of the men pointed a gun at her and demanded money and jewellery.”
He said the woman tried to walk back to her car to get her purse as she had no money on her.
The men told her not to and demanded the ring she was wearing, Du Buisson said.
“She gave them the ring and they drove off. CCC arrived at the scene within minutes and we tracked the motorbike on Wierda Road. We followed the suspects, but they drove off at high speed and we lost them in Kgosi Mampuru Street in the city centre,” Du Buisson said.
He said the two men had also robbed people in The Reeds.
“We urge people to be careful. If they are approached by people on a white motorbike with yellow details, asking for directions, they should avoid them as they could be robbed.”
