A man was found dead in a street in Phomolong, Atteridgeville, police said on Tuesday.
Spokesperson Captain Thomas Mufamadi said the body was discovered in Phomolong Block E informal settlements near Atteridgeville on Sunday.
“Police were called to the scene by the locals and upon arrival they found a man lying on his stomach with blood all over the place. It is believed that the man was shot dead as he had gun wounds in his chest,” he said.
“The ambulance was called and paramedics declared him dead on the scene. A murder case has been opened at the Atteridgeville’s Magistrate Court,” Mufamadi said.
Mfumadi said the body of the deceased was yet to be identified.
