The police are searching for three armed men in a white Ford Focus who robbed a man of R70 000 in Amandasig on Monday afternoon.
Police spokesperson Captain Rheineth Motlana said the 41-year-old victim was followed by three armed men after he withdrew R70 000 from the Standard Bank at Wonderpark.
After making the cash withdrawal at the bank, the man proceeded to Berg Avenue in Amandasig. “When he stopped his vehicle, the three men approached him and demanded the money,” she said.
He handed the money over and they fled in the white Ford Focus. The man alerted the police immediately.
Motlana urged people to not withdraw large amounts of money and if at all possible to opt for internet banking instead. She warned motorists to be vigilant when driving with money in their vehicles and to drive to the nearest police station if they suspected they were being followed.
Motlana said the investigation was continuing.
