Corruption charges have been dropped against two Tshwane metro police officers, police spokesperson Major Mack Mngomezulu said this week.
A third officer arrested with them last week, Selby Ngoepe, would be back in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on April 9.
The three appeared in court last Tuesday after claims that they tried to bribe a motorist. Pretoria North police arrested them the previous day.
Mngomezulu said the charges were dropped against two of the officers, and Ngoepe was granted bail.
The allegation was that the metro officers pulled off a motorist at a routine roadblock in the north of Pretoria last Monday and asked to see his driver’s licence.
The metro officers allegedly asked him for money to return the licence.
“After he was allowed to drive off, the motorist laid charges against the three officers at the Pretoria North police station.”
