A 38-year-old man was arrested on Thursday after he shot his neighbour in the leg earlier this month, Silverton police spokesperson Captain Jan Sepato said.
He said this happened in Saamroep Street in Nellmapius, Mamelodi, on 3 March.
“The suspect requested money from his neighbour, a 26-year-old man. His neighbour told him he did not have money. The suspect then pulled a firearm and shot his neighbour in the leg,” Sepato said.
The man fled after taking his neighbour to Mamelodi hospital.
Sepato said police traced the man on Thursday after a tip-off.
“He was arrested and police also found an unlicensed firearm in his possession. He is expected to appear at the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of attempted murder and the possession of unlicensed firearm.”
