The Sinoville police were on Wednesday still searching for two armed men that robbed a Midas branch in Montana at the weekend.
Sinoville police station commander Colonel Ramakamaka Kekana said leads were being followed up.
After the robbery on Sunday morning the four robbers divided into pairs of two. “Two of the men that fled the scene in an X-Trail were later arrested, but the two others who fled in a Mercedes Benz A-class are still at large,” he said.
In a similar crime, a so-called car buyer who was shot and wounded on Monday in Montana by Sinoville police was still under police guard on Wednesday.
Kekana said the man was recovering and would remain under police guard while in hospital.
The manager of the dealership recognised the would-be car thief and informed the police. The man fled the scene but police cornered him in Rooibos Road.
“We are urging residents to make sure that their vehicles are properly locked before walking away from their vehicles. We are concerned about the amount of thefts of motor vehicles in the area. Toyota brands are especially targeted,” Kekana warned.
He said residents and motorists should report any suspicious activities in the area.
