The weekend’s sport highlights
This weekend again offers much sporting action to sports fans from across the spectrum.

Athletics
The Wally Hayward Marathon has been consistently ranked as a well-organised and well-presented event. This historic race will be run for the 39th time on Friday, 1 May. This will be the eighth time the event is held as a memorial run. It is a tribute to a great runner and a great man, Wally Hayward. With the combined size of the field, which exceeds 6 000, early arrival at the venue is essential. This race will start at 06:30. Enquiries: Bert van der Raad on 076-594-8906.
Boxing
The big fight for which boxing lovers have licked their lips for a long time, will take place this weekend. The ‘Fight of the Century’ as the great battle between Floyd Mayweather of America and Manny Pacquiao from the Philippines is known, will take place early Sunday morning (SA time) in the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Soccer
Although Kaiser Chiefs already secured the title in this year’s PSL championships, many teams have much to play for in the next two weeks. Some, like AmaTuks, will aim to end in the top eight, while others fight for survival in the league.
Two local teams will be in action this weekend. Saturday at 20:15 SuperSport United, who are also not yet sure of their spot among the top eight, will take on AmaZulu in the Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban.
On Sunday, Mamelodi Sundowns will travel to Rustenburg and take on Platinum Stars in the Royal Bafokeng Stadium at 15:00.
