Bob Hewitt jailed for 6 years

Retired tennis legend, Bob Hewitt was sentenced to six years in jail for rape by the High Court in Pretoria.

Former Grand Slam tennis champion Bob Hewitt will be serving six years in jail after he was sentenced for rape in the High Court in Pretoria on Monday.

Hewitt (75) was found guilty of two counts of rape and one of sexual assault in March after he raped two girls he gave tennis lessons to in the 80s.

He also sexually assaulted another.

According to reports, the retired tennis player told the court on Monday that he was in poor health and received anonymous threatening letters warning him of assault in prison.

Hewitt pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
