Centurion Gautrain passengers warned

Gautrain passengers walking to the station have been warned to be alert to criminals.

Gautrain passengers walking to the Centurion Gautrain station in the early hours of the morning have been urged to be extra alert to criminals.

Head of the Lyttelton Sector 7 Community Police Forum (CPF) Chris Evans said on Friday, there had been an increase in armed robberies near the station in the past weeks.

“Criminals target people who walk to the station in the early hours of the morning, especially those who walk alone. We have had many cases reported about robberies in that area, and we are doing everything we can to keep watch,” he said.

“There’s a bush on the left hand side of the station where criminals usually hide. This is a big problem.”

Hotspots are West Avenue, Von Willich Avenue, Lenchen Avenue and Hendrik Verwoerd Drive and the Centurion Lake Bridge.
