Four arrested for possession of stolen goods

Police arrested four people in Temba on Friday morning when they were found in possession of stolen items worth thousands.

Four people were arrested in Temba, near Hammanskraal on Friday for possession of stolen property worth thousands of rands, police said on Monday.

Spokesperson Constable Makgotso Mphenyeke said four suspects were arrested when they were found in possession of stolen property. “Police got a tip-off that two women were in possession of stolen property in Temba and when they arrived at the scene, they found the two women, aged 39 and 41, who confessed they had bought a stolen music system and a plasma TV,” Mphenyeke said.

“After being arrested, the women led the police to the house of two other suspects responsible for the theft of the goods. Upon arrival, they found a 32-year-old man in possession of valuables like a PlayStation 4 console, a DVD player, plasma TV and other items. The suspect was arrested on the scene,” Mphenyeke said.

The fourth suspect had prior warrants out for his arrest for house robbery and theft, and was a wanted man. He was arrested minutes later, after being found in possession of stolen jewellery and nyaope.

A case of possession of stolen property was opened at the Moretele Magistrate’s Court, and the four were expected to appear in court on Monday.
