Suspected car thief nabbed in own yard
Vigilant police arrest man for the possession of a stolen vehicle.
An Eersterust man was caught with a stolen car on Monday when police acted on a tip-off.
Spokesperson Constable Sam Shibambo said the 41-year-old man was arrested at 22:00 in Yukon Avenue.
“Police received information that the suspect was in possession of a stolen vehicle. The anonymous caller provided the police with a description of the vehicle. On arrival at Yukon Avenue in Eersterust, police found a green Volkswagen Polo parked in the suspect’s yard,” Shibambo said.
Police confirmed the car had been reported stolen at Wonderboompoort in May. “The vehicle was impounded and the suspect detained. He will appear in court soon,” Shibambo said.
