Police on the hunt for N4 shooting suspect.
One suspect is still at large after a shootout with police on the N4 on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Gauteng Provincial Police spokesperson Major Mack Mngomezulu, six suspects were arrested after they robbed a British American Tobacco cigarette truck in Silverton. “One of the suspects died after he was arrested. He started to vomit and collapsed. He died on scene.”
Earlier reports indicated that the man died on the scene from a heart attack when he tried to flee from the police.
Mngomezulu added that one suspect escaped, and that police are still on the lookout for him.
The suspects’ car, along with their loot was recovered at the scene. “We are as yet unsure what the exact value of the stolen cigarettes is,” he added.
All five suspects are due to appear in court within 48 hours.
