Mams man held after girl’s rape

A four-year-old girl was allegedly raped in a shop near her home.

Thabang Kuaho

A Mamelodi shop worker was arrested on Thursday afternoon after the rape of a four-year-old girl.

A witness, who only identified herself as Onica, said the little girl’s grandmother noticed she was bleeding shortly after she arrived home from a nearby shop earlier in the day.

“When the grandmother saw the little girl was bleeding, she went to the shop to find out what had happened. When they got to the shop, the little girl started crying and refused to enter,” she said.

Onica said police were called after angry locals threatened to attack the shop worker.

“Members of the community got so furious that they even tried to burn the shop down.”

She said police arrived on the scene and took the alleged rapist to the Mamelodi West police station.

Comment from the police could not be obtained immediately.
