Men arrested in connection with slain cop
Suspect arrested after shootout with police in Temba.
Two men have been arrested in connection with the death of a police constable in Temba, north of Pretoria, on Thursday morning.
The constable and a colleague responded to a complaint of a business robbery at Sekampane Section at 02:30 on Thursday. The officer was shot while investigating and died from his wound, but his colleague was unharmed.
According to Gauteng Provincial police spokesperson Lt-Col Lungelo Dlamini, the men were arrested after police had received information from residents.
“Police are still looking for a murder weapon, a firearm that was used in the robbery,” added Dlamini.
He said one of the arrested men is a resident of Temba.
