SA football teams closer to Rio Olympics

Amaglug-glug and Banyana on track for 2016 Olympics

The South African u.23 side brushed aside Zimbabwe’s u.23 team 3-0 at the Harry Gwala stadium last week to keep their Olympic chances alive.

Amaglug-glug came into the match needing a goalless draw to advance but a brace from Keagan Dolly ensured that Owen Da Gama’s men qualified for the next round with a 4-1 win on aggregate.

The junior Bafana Bafana will now participate in the eight-nation tournament in November to see if they can qualify for the 2016 Olympics in Rio. The top three teams out of the eight will qualify.

Banyana Banyana defeated Kenya 1-0 to seal the tie 2-0 on aggregate over Kenya last week. Banyana will play Equatorial Guinea in the final round with the winner securing a spot in the Olympics.
