A sniffer dog helped police confiscate heroin worth R10 500 in the city centre on Tuesday.
Jesse was part of the Soshanguve K9 unit that got a tip-off that a Nigerian man would be delivering narcotics to a building at the intersection of Paul Kruger and Bloed streets.
“We followed it up and searched the car,” Hammies Lamilton of the Soshanguve K9 unit said.
“Jesse directed us to the back seat of the car,” he said, adding that the trained narcotic sniffer-dog had persisted.
“We found the drugs were hidden between the seat belt buckle receptacle and the seat.”
The 11-year old Jesse has been working with the K9 unit for almost ten years.
Hamilton said he was proud of her.
“She’s my partner, we have been doing these things together everyday.”

Police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe said 300 bags of heroin were found.
“The 26-year old man is facing charges of possession of drugs,” she said.
His house in Pretoria West was also searched, but it is yet unknown if anything was found.
The date for his court appearance has not been decided yet.
