Foetus found in dustbin

Police investigating foetus found in a dustbin in Pretoria Gardens on Thursday.

A foetus was found in a dustbin in Pretoria Gardens on Thursday morning.

Hercules CPF chairman Conrad Naudé said the bin was outside a house in Ernest Street.

“We are not sure where the foetus comes from but it was found by dustbin diggers. They called a woman who was passing by to come see what they found,” he said.

Naudé said the woman reported this to a CPF member she met in Centre Street, who alerted the police.

“The people living at the house were not home when the foetus was found. It is possible that a passer-by threw the foetus in the dustbin,” said Naudé.

Hercules police spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango confirmed a foetus of a boy was found in a dustbin in Pretoria Gardens at about 11:00 in the morning.

Police are still investigating the matter and more information will be given as soon as we have gathered more information about who the foetus belongs to,” he said.

This is the second foetus found in the Hercules area in the past two weeks. A week ago a resident of Sunset view had the unpleasant experience of her dog coming home with a head that looked like that of a foetus.
