Man killed in shootout with police

A man who shot at police responding to a complaint, has died in a shootout.

A man was killed in a shootout with the police on Friday morning, in Theresapark.

Police spokesperson Captain Riaana Van Aarde said: “Pretoria North police were responding to a domestic violence complaint earlier this morning.

“When they arrived at the house, the accused opened fire. He shot at the police officers but the bullet did not hit anyone,” she said.

Van Aarde said police returned fire, and the man was unfortunately killed.

She said more information would be made available at a later date.
