Two intruders nabbed in Centurion
Two men arrested after being caught on CCTV footage and identified as intruders.
The apparent criminal intentions of two men went awry in Centurion on Friday evening.
They lifted the gate of a complex off its rail, but appeared to have gotten cold feet before moving further.
In a message posted on the Centurion Concerned Citizens (CCC) Facebook page, resident Sonet Erichsen said: “When leaving the complex, we found the gate off the rail and slightly open. When we checked the CCTV footage, we saw two males lifting it off the rail and leaving.
“They… were probably scared off by the sound of our car starting.”
She said her husband Gordon called in on a reaction channel and posted pictures of the trespassers.
“This was 20 minutes after we saw the gate is off the rail and not even five minutes later patrollers caught the two guys in Hendrik Verwoerd Drive.”
Erichsen said officials of the Scorpion Risk security firm arrested the men and brought them back for identification.
“About ten cars lined our street. Well done to all patrollers involved. You guys rock.”
Erichsen said she now had first-hand experience on how efficient the CCC was. Wierdabrug police also responded to a call made to them.
CCC spokesperson Hannes du Buisson said what happened was a prime example of how well the Centurion community worked together.
