Operation Base Camp nets 52
Police continued to make arrests in Operation Base Camp at the weekend.

Pretoria Central police arrested 52 people in a special operation at the weekend.
Sergeant Ann Poortman said the Operation Base Camp aimed at preventing and fighting crime.
“The arrests were made for various crimes, including possession of drugs, theft, copper cable theft, illegal immigrants, counterfeit DVDs and possession of stolen property,” she said
Seven people were caught for driving under the influence of alcohol, and 500 counterfeit DVDs were confiscated.
“We have zero tolerance towards these crimes, because these people are endangering not only their own lives, but the lives of others as well,” said Poortman
She said the operation would continue with the high-visibility drives.
All arrested people will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court from Monday
Poortman said: “We urge the community to report any illegal activities by calling 08600 10111.”
