Quagga centre evacuated after bomb scare

Quagga centre has been evacuated after a hoax bomb scare was made to one of the shops.

Customers had to evacuate Quagga shopping centre on Monday afternoon after a bomb threat.

The police, bomb squad, K9 unit and other law enforcement units were dispatched.

Centre management told Rekord that the police were securing the centre.

“We can confirm a bomb threat at the centre. The police are checking the centre to make sure it is secure.”

SA National Civics Organisation chairman Nagesh Chetty said that this was the 60th hoax call to the centre in the past few months.

“This is a problem because no one has been arrested. This is killing our businesses,” Chetty said.

“Serious action needs to be taken to find the culprits and stop these bomb scares.”

Police were not immediately available for comment.
