A man was shot dead in Soshanguve at the weekend, police said on Monday.

Spokesperson Warrant Officer Lolo Mangena said the body of 27-year-old Tshepo Baloyi was found near a stream in Block KK.

“The complainant, who is the Baloyi’s girlfriend, said she heard four gunshots outside her house at 00:12. When she went outside, she saw a white Volkswagen Golf with bullet holes in it. The vehicle had no occupants inside.”

Mangena said the girlfriend alerted the police and they searched the area.

“His body was found near a stream with a gun wound in the back. It is unknown at this stage what exactly happened and we are investigating,” he said.

Mangena said Baloyi was in the service of the SA National Defence Force.
