Eersterust police arrested a 19-year-old man last week for dealing in drugs.
He was caught after a second run-in with police. Two weeks ago (Wednesday, 2 September), prior to his latest arrest, the man had been caught in possession of drugs.
Police spokesperson Constable Sam Shibambo said the man was dealing in drugs along with two other accomplices, aged 19 and 56.
“Police received a tip-off that the suspect was back in his business selling drugs. His brazen behaviour caused community members to call the police and report him,” said Shibambo.
The police responded to the call at Moses Avenue, where the dealer and his accomplices were discovered previously. “On arrival they found the suspect standing outside the premises,” Shibambo said.
“The suspect was searched and a total of eleven packets were found concealed in his pockets containing CAT, with a street value of R1 100.”
The drugs were seized and the man was arrested. He would appear in the Hatfield Court soon on charges of possession of and dealing in drugs.
Shibambo thanked the community for their help to catch one of the drug dealers in Eersterust.
At a recent presidential imbizo, Eersterust was identified as an area with one of the biggest drug problems in the country.
