Police killings lamented
Hatfield Christian Church held a prayer service to pray for a stop to police killings on Sunday.
Low pay, odd hours, second guessing, gunshots and police killings.
The hazards police officers combat daily were highlighted on Sunday during a Police Appreciation Day held at the Hatfield Christian Church in Waterkloof Glen.
“They are the guardians of our way of life and they deserve our support,” General Major Jimmy Ledwaba said.
“Police officers are not enemies,” he added.
Hundreds of police officers in uniform and ordinary members of the community in support gathered at the church.
Pastor Hardie de Beer prayed for a stop of police killings.
He prayed for schools to teach young people good manners
“We pray for you. We thank you. All of you have families. You go out there to do you work and you put your lives in danger. I command the attack and killing of police officers to stop,” he said.
