Mom speaks about son’s murder
The mother of a murdered police officer has described her son’s killers as animals not deserving a place in society.

Esther Nkosi (65), mother of murdered Winterveldt cop Samuel Nkosi, has described her son’s killers as animals not deserving a place in society.
She spoke out for the first time on Friday after the sentencing of the two criminals who robbed her son of his life.
Thulani Julius Dibakwane (24) and Nhlanhla Fortunate Baloyi (24) were handed life sentences in the High Court in Hammanskraal for the murder of Constable Samuel Nkosi.
The distraught mother said her son’s killers had brought misery for the family.
“They are pure evil, 100% evil, no doubt. I would give them a lethal injection. I’d do it myself. They must rot in jail,” she said.
“I am a pensioner. I depended on my son for everything. He was the breadwinner. Now they have taken his life. I am ill, I suffer from diabetes and my legs cannot carry me any more. The bastards have made life hard for me.”
For over four months, Esther had been coming to court to witness the trial of her son’s murderers. “It had become unbearable,” she said.
Judge P Kgoele helped her find closure by ruling that both men were guilty of the murder.
They were each convicted of four more charges, included robbery with aggravating circumstances and being in the possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Nkosi said her son was a responsible man who contributed to society.
“He touched so many lives. He was the type of person that would give up his meal in a restaurant if he saw a beggar outside. How can you even begin to describe the anguish of a mother?”
Constable Nkosi was shot eight times in the upper body at a tavern in Winterveldt on January 12 this year.
He was off duty and unarmed at the time.
His distraught mother said: “It is clear they had planned to kill him, how do you shoot someone eight times even when the person is on the ground lying defenceless.”
Handing down judgment, Kgoele said the two men clearly intended to kill the police officer.
