Four to appear for unlicensed firearms

Four men were to appear in court on Monday, for possession of unlicensed firearms.

Four men were expected to appear in the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate’s Court for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Sarah Lesabane said the men aged between 23 and 37 were arrested during a police patrol.

“Police were on patrol when they noticed the four suspicious occupants of blue Astra. They stopped and searched the vehicle and inside the vehicle, they recovered a star pistol, R28 pistol 7.65mm and C283 pistol,” she said.

Lesabane said all the firearms’ serial numbers had been filed off. Sixteen live rounds and three magazines were also found in the vehicle.

Lesabane said ballistic tests on the firearms will be done.
