A top Tshwane metro police official and his wife were hijacked and taken hostage in Equestria on Thursday night. Metro police director Sean Bolhuis and his wife were hijacked by four heavily armed men, according to brother Mike Bolhuis.
The hijacking happened on Thursday after 21:00.
“A white Volkwagen Touareg with registration number DR 30 PR GP was hijacked by four heavily armed men.
“Cellphones and other personal belongings were also stolen,” said Bolhuis.
“We believe this is a syndicate as they were highly tactical and very well organised, and also hijacked three other vehicles in Equestria,” said Bolhuis.
“We think this was an order hijacking and that the vehicle is on its way to Mozambique. The police and metro police assisted and we found Mr Bolhuis and his wife unharmed within an hour.”
Bolhuis said they couple was dropped off at the Bynespoort small holdings area. He thanked all parties involved in the search and professional assistance in the safe return of his brother and wife.
“The metro police were of huge assistance and I would also like to thank the Cullinan police station for their assistance. We want to warn all to be aware of hijackers who could take advantage of anyone,” said Bolhuis.
Tshwane metro spokesperson superintendent Isaac Mahamba said no comment would be issued at the moment. “As soon as a statement is available, we will issue it,” Mahamba said.
