Two men, aged 40 and 22, were remanded in custody on Thursday, after they appeared in court for possession of drugs worth over a quarter of a million rand, police said.
The accused appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
They were arrested on Tuesday, at their Gezina home after a resident flagged a patrol car to tip police off to the illegal activities the men were involved in.
“Police searched the said house and found a brown plastic bag containing cocaine rocks and nyaope worth R380 000,” police spokesperson Asnath Malatsi said.
“Both men were immediately arrested.”
Pretoria Moot station commander Colonel Kate Malope said the arrest was an example of how the community could assist the police in fighting crime.
“This should serve as a stern warning to drug users, manufacturers and traffickers that they will never escape the long arm of the law,” she said.
Malope said drugs destroyed future generations and police would leave no stone unturned in an effort to curb the dangerous crime.
Malatsi urged citizens to report illegal or suspicious activities to the police emergency number 10111, Crimestop number 08600 10111 or SMS 32211.
