Police hunt Garsfontein shooter, but calls to deepen investigation
Calls come in for deeper probe in Wandile Bozwana assassination.
Police are on the hunt for three men who assassinated a North West businessman, Wandile Bozwana, on the Garsfontein off-ramp on Friday afternoon.
On Monday morning, police confirmed they are yet to make an arrest.
Bozwana, company director for Orgazma Energy Drinks, was driving with Orgazma events co-ordinator Mpho Baloyi when their yellow Renault Clio RS was set upon.
Bozwana was apparently hit eight times and succumbed to his injuries just after 20:00 that night in hospital.
The motive for the killing is not yet known.
Bozwana’s involvement in government tenders has been drawn into question.
DA leader in the North West, Chris Hattingh has highlighted longstanding questions and allegations regarding Bozwana’s involvement with the North West government.
“According to the North West MEC for Public Works, Madoda Sambatha, Bozwana got in excess of R1-billion in contracts from the North West government,” said Hattingh.
“Questions and allegations about Bozwana-contracts and the NW/Bozwana/BBBEE relationship continued to flare up when their relationship turned sour, prompting North West premier Supra Mahumapelo to sue Bozwana for R6-million.”
Bozwana retaliated by obtaining an attachment order against the government.
Hattingh has now called for the scope of the investigation into the assassination to be extended to cover tenders he got from the North West government.
