Metro creates water leaks email hotline

Tshwane mayor gives new email address for reporting water leaks in Pretoria.

Tshwane mayor Kgosientso Ramokgopa on Friday morning, announced a new email address for residents to use when reporting water leaks in Pretoria.

Over the past few months, residents have been complaining about water leaks from burst pipes in Pretoria that the metro is reluctant to repair.

Residents were worried about water wastage, as water restrictions imposed by the metro confirmed water scarcity.

Ramokgopa said on a community radio station interview on Friday morning, water leaks were a great concern and, as indicated by the minister of water affairs, should be repaired.

“We could attend to the water leaks but we do not have sufficient capacity. In two weeks, we will introduce a programme to have more people to help repair the leaks,” said Ramokgopa.

He said through the email address the metro would be able to address as many leaks as possible.

The email address is: waterleaks@tshwane.gov.za.

Ramokgopa’s office could not be reached for further comment on the matter.
