The Tshwane metro has increased the daily data limit to its free Wi-Fi users at Wi-Fi hotspots across the metro.
This comes after it reached a major milestone of one million unique connections by the end of October.
Previously, users were allowed 250 megabytes per day, per device, but this has increased to 500 megabytes.
The metro has successfully rolled out the first phase of its free Wi-Fi project to residents and students in Tshwane’s public spaces in line with the its long-term plan to provide free connectivity to all public educational institutions in the area by 2016.
The roll out of the second phase makes the metro the largest provider of free Wi-Fi in South Africa with already 1 million users in public spaces at 213 schools in Soshanguve, Mamelodi and Atteridgeville.
