Metro to deal with account problems

Metro officials will be deployed at various malls to help residents resolve their problems with municipal accounts.

Officials from the metro’s financial department will be deployed at shopping malls during the next two weeks to assist residents with billing enquiries and hopefully resolve them.

Metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said this was part of the metro’s #emPowerYourCity campaign to engage with residents and also create awareness about the importance of paying for municipal services.

“Customers, who pay their municipal accounts in full and on time, empower the metro to deliver required services,” he said.

The campaign started on Friday, at the Sammy Marks centre in the CBD. Mashigo said ratepayers were encouraged to bring their municipal accounts along and make use of this opportunity to solve their billing problems.

Deployment will be as follows: Wonderpark shopping centre from 8 to 12 December, Menlyn mall from 8 to 12 December, Forest Hill from 15 to 19 December, and Jubilee mall from 15 to 19 December.

“More malls will be visited next year, and we will communicate this in due course,” said Mashigo.
