Man caught speeding at 221 km/h
Gauteng man arrested for driving at 221km/h in the Free State.
A Gauteng man was arrested for speeding in a Porsche Cayenne in the Free State on Friday night.
Simon Zwane. spokesperson of the Road Traffic Management Corporation, said the 38-year-old motorist was driving at 221km/h in a 120km/h zone.
“This is the highest speed we have encountered so far in the festive season,” he said.
“It took traffic officers about 850m to intercept the speedster.”
The man was arrested on the spot and taken to the Ventersburg police station.
Zwane said another motorist was arrested for driving at 199km/h in the Free State.
“Motorists are advised to adhere to the speed limit because exceeding it is a criminal offence.”
Zwane said driving at a high speed also increased the odds of an accident happening.
