UPDATE: Metro cop still to appear in court

Arrested Tshwane metro police officer will appear in court soon.

A Tshwane metro police officer arrested over bribery is still to appear in court.

The officer was allegedly caught soliciting a R100 bribe from a motorist along the Moloto Road, north of Pretoria, on Saturday afternoon.

Metro police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said on Monday the matter was still being investigated by the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC).

“We do not want to interfere with the investigations of the RTMC and will wait for them to conclude with their investigations.”

Mahamba said the metro would obtain a copy of the docket later and take matters from there.

RTMC spokesperson Simon Zwane said the metro police officer would appear in court soon.

She was arrested by an undercover anti-corruption officer monitoring the conduct of officers on this road.

She allegedly solicited a bribe from the anti-corruption officer.
