Elderly woman killed in minibus taxi accident

A taxi driver allegedly drove over a woman when he skipped a red robot.

A 59-year-old woman was killed on Wednesday evening after she was hit by a minibus taxi in Pretoria West.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Ann Poortman said that the accident was caused by a minibus taxi that allegedly ignored a red traffic light.

“The accident happened at the intersection of WF Nkomo Street and Colbalt Street in Pretoria West,” she said.

“The woman was hit by the minibus taxi and was declared dead on the scene.”

Poortman said a charge of culpable homicide are under investigation at the Pretoria West police station.
