A fourth suspect, the latest to be arrested in the murder case of Captain Kenneth Poortman is currently (Monday) appearing in the Pretoria Magistrates Court.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Lungelo Dlamini told Rekord on Monday, that the 30-year-old fourth suspect was arrested on Friday, as police continued their investigation into the murder last week.
“The first three suspects were arrested last week, and appeared in court last Tuesday. They were remanded in custody pending further investigations,” he said.
Captain Poortman was hijacked and stabbed to death, and his body found along the Mabopane Highway nearly a week ago.
His firearm was also stolen.
Dlamini says the latest suspect was cornered in the Pretoria CBD on New Year’s Day.
“He is currently appearing before the Pretoria Magistrates Court where he is facing charges of murder, kidnapping and hijacking,” he said.
The other three suspects were arrested in Winterveldt.
“Poortman’s car, as well as a firearm were recovered during the arrests,” he said.
