Your vote is vital

2016 will be a vitally important year for Tshwane residents as they will have the chance to vote for who they want to run the capital city for the next five years. Rekord takes a look at the who, how and when of registration for the municipal elections.

Political parties have already started fighting for the hearts and minds and, of course, the all-important votes of the Tshwane metro residents for the upcoming local elections.

No date has yet been set for elections, but due to reasons beyond its control, the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) recently announced that the planned registration weekend in February, had been cancelled.

Political parties this week agreed that with the new registration weekend set for 5 and 6 March, it was likely there would only be one opportunity to register before the elections.

It is also of great importance to notice that during this election, residents can only vote at the polling station where they are registered.

The coming local government elections are critically important for the well-being of the city.

Please ensure you are registered. Only you can make your vote count.
