Bus services to run as usual

Tshwane bus services will run as usual after the disciplinary hearings of 60 drivers were postponed.

The Tshwane bus service (TBS) would run as usual this week as disciplinary hearings for 60 bus drivers have been postponed to April.

Initial fears were that the hearings could result in a disruption of services as it would have been difficult to have all buses in operation.

Metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said the parties involved had resolved to postpone proceedings.

“The agreement between both parties means the services of TBS will run normally from this Monday afternoon onwards.”

He said the disciplinary hearings were instituted after the drivers took part in an unprotected strike in July 2014, which left numerous commuters stranded.

The drivers concerned are members of the SA Municipal Workers Union.
